Why do people blog?

This is the question that has plagued my internet life for years now. What is so fascinating about it?
Time for some major research. I need to get to the bottom of this so I need to go to the most knowledgeable source- GOOGLE.

    Of course you did! The reasons are so diverse- from ranting to political aspirations and beyond-i even read "for a sense of purpose" from one blogger
